Website Wednesday: Gettysburg Live Bird Feeder Cam

Spring is here, which means birdwatching season is in full swing! Ideally you have bird feeders right outside of your classroom windows so that you can easily watch your local native birds in real time. But you can also check out the live cam in Gettysburg, PA!

This project was started toward the beginning of COVID in May of 2020 and has had thousands and thousands of views. Over 30 different species of birds have been identified thus far. It’s also fun to watch for other animals in the background, including a three-legged deer named Blitzen. More information is available on the YouTube page.

I like watching all of the birds and listening to their calls. See how many you can identify visually and by their calls!

What other live bird cams do you enjoy watching?

If you’re going to set up birdwatching outside of your own windows, I recommend getting one with suction cups for an up close view, as well as a variety of others that you can set up within view. You want to use different feeders and different kinds of food to attract the most varieties. The following are some ideas on Amazon, based on different types of feeders I have used in the past.
